Brief: to design a residential and a hospitality rug set, drawing inspiration from a painting.
WARP & WEFT DESIGN COMPETITION RUNNER UP
This was a project for Warp & Weft in collaboration with the Pratt Institute of Design, Brooklyn. I have always loved Murnau am Staffelsee (1905) by Kandinsky ever since seeing it as a child. I drew inspiration from the colour palette and the composition to create a repeated tile design for the hospitality rug and a more abstract design for the residential rug. Although neither rug was eventually made commercially, I sell the abstract composition as a Giclee print.
